sail around the world?

My Buddy is 54 and lives on his boat. He's pretty much semi-retired and is thinking about getting a Stealth 13 for cruising around the world. He's looking for feedback from other owners on how well they're built, how they handle, how much weight they can carry, and how they perform in real life.

Right now, he's sailing a modified Lavezzi 40 but wants to switch to a simpler, faster catamaran soon. He's all about low-maintenance setups and isn't interested in racing gear,just a reliable boat that can cruise about 200 nautical miles a day if the weather's good.

He's looking at twin 20hp Beta engines, and maybe one hybrid for running in marinas and as a backup power source. If there are any owners willing to meet up or let him join for a day sail (he'll cover the costs), he'd really appreciate the chance to check one out.

The Stealth 13 is well built, its fast, and great for typically low-maintenance cruising. It handles around 200 NM a day in a good weather, and the twin 20hp Betas are a good choice. Its not that roomy but makes up for it in performance. Thats a solid plan, hope there are owners here that could board you in.

If he's expecting 200nm a day consistently, tell him to temper that, stealth 13s are quick, but they're still cruisers, not rockets, twin 20hp Betas are a good call, hybrid is fine for marina creeping, but don't count on it offshore. Real world load kills performance fast, so pack smart
